01 the challenge

My Role: Senior Product Designer | Billing and Accounting

As a member of the trio within the Finance domain in Mews, I am responsible for managing the design, research and strategy within my product area. Working very closely with the product manager and engineering manager, we lead the three teams within our area. Working within the basecamp team, US mission team and finance core team I help shape the future of accounting and billing in Mews. Not being an accountant myself has been challenging and difficult at times but I do feel like my background in Fintech has helped tremendously. We work on the vision for accounting within the hospitality area. The finance space was in a dire state when I started and a major blocker for us breaking into the US market. Through our work in creating the 4 standard accounting ledgers users are used to as well as the features in order to get the right numbers, we have achieved a huge feat in the last 5 months. With our metric being "user disengagement" I have managed to cut down our golden task of checkout by 60 seconds as well as increasing payments through our Mews payments platform by 20%.
